Just prior to the Giuliani-led cleaning of New York City, a club in the Bowery called CBGB was the epicenter of a revolution in popular culture which would be given the sobriquet, New Wave.  With an aesthetic mixing DIY punk, Warhol-esque postmodernism, and the full embrace of synthetic technology, a subversive movement was quickly going mainstream reaching peak influence with the emergence of MTV.  One pioneer musical act that received global attention was Blondie, fronted by Debbie Harry, whose stage personality projected a cinematic charisma, “ME Generation” sexuality, and an unmistakable feminist iconoclasm.  Their music channeled an eclectic mix of disco, reggae, punk, funk and hip hop.

Call Me Blondie is an ensemble dedicated to recreating the sound and the vibe of Blondie’s music.  Originating in Lima, OHIO, this act will take audiences back to the dawn of the Reagan era when image and fashion ruled pop culture.
