Bob started performing with Victims of Love, a tribute to the Eagles, in January of 2022 primarily performing the parts of Glenn Frey, but has also filled the Don Henley drums/vocals role and fills in for other Soundskape-Entertainment acts when needed.
He has worked for Pathology laboratories/Sonic Healthcare for 34 years and started working for Bon Secours Mercy Health as the Director of Outreach Laboratory for their Samaritan Division in May of 2020. His musical career started in 1980 at the age of 16, when he was a member of the Blanchard Valley Bluegrass Boys. That band won Best New Bluegrass Band in America in 1983 and recorded 2 albums in 1982 and 1984. The band consisted of Ed Burwell (banjo, fiddle, vocals), Lynn Fox (mandolin, vocals), Rudy Okuly (RIP) (guitar, vocals), and Bob on bass, vocals. Then in 1986, The Buck Tanner Band was formed featuring Garry Stennett (RIP) (guitar, vocals), Ed Burwell (guitar, fiddle, banjo, vocals), Mike Crisp (bass, vocals) [to Mike, RIP!], Frank Harnishfeger (keyboards, saxophone, vocals), Dan “Spanky” Corwin (drums, vocals) and Bob on acoustic guitar, vocals.
In September 1990, Exploit was formed featuring John Mobley (guitar, vocals), Mike Crisp (bass, vocals), Andy Flores (keyboards, vocals), Mark “Slappa” Utz (drums, vocals), and Bob on guitar, bass, drums, vocals. Exploit released Pretty Girls on the Dance Floor (1993) featuring original songs and a few covers. In 1995, guitarist, Mike Mobley joined the band and Bob switched to bass, followed in 1996 by the addition of Ed Burwell on guitar, fiddle, banjo, vocals. In 1998, the band released Summer of ’98. Exploit then added drummer Travis Parsons and guitarist Travis Williams following the departure of Mark and Ed in 2000. Bob also formed a band with Don Gray, Kevin Maiberger and Mark Utz called Flyer active from 2004-2008. Exploit disbanded in 2002, but reformed in 2008 with Bob, Ed Burwell, Mark “Slappa” Utz, and Frank Harnishfeger. Ed left in 2011 and guitarists Jim Miller and Bill Goodwin were added. In 2012, Jack Martinez joined the band on guitar, vocals. Jack passed away in August 2020 (Rest in Peace Jack!!!!) and guitarist Don Gray joined in September 2020 followed by drummer/vocalist David Breaston in May 2021. Exploit still performs with a horn section on occasion which is called Exploit Deluxe including Chuck Summers (sax, vocals), Jack Burwell (trombone) and Bill Burwell (trumpet). Bob’s other musical “notes” include being accepted at Bowling Green State University’s Music Department as a Percussion Major in 1981 and studying under Wendel Jones. He was awarded the Reed Scholarship from Ohio State University for Vocal Performance. He has performed in several operas during his career at Ohio State University. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio State University in Business Administration with specialization in Accounting in 1992. He has performed with the Lima Symphony Orchestra and also has directed the Praise and Worship Choir at the Immaculate Conception parish in Celina, Ohio.
Bob is married to Ria (33 years on August 10, 2023) with three (four) children: Sydney J. Schroeder, N.D. (32) in Arizona, Cory (30), Lauren (20) and their Cavapooh Belle Bottom. Both Sydney and Lauren will sing with the band when they are available. Sydney, residing in Arizona, received her Medical Degree in Naturopathic Medicine in 2020 and her Master’s Degree in 2022. Lauren Jean won Ohio Has Talent in 2019, appeared on American Idol receiving a Golden Ticket and made it to the top 90 in 2019-2020 season. Ria and Bob have fought to keep their son Cory alive all these years. Cory has a Mitochondrial Disease and most die by the age of 6! He currently is 30 and is proving them all wrong.
